4 December - The future of EU funding on climate and alternative approaches to distributing funds, including delivering public goods in agriculture and valuing biodiversity and ecosystem services
The future distribution of the EU budget will be a vital debate over the coming years. Central to the discussions will be the allocation of funds for climate change but also the consideration of new mechanisms via which to distribute funds. This session examined the current and future use of funding in the context of climate change, future mechanisms for the distribution of the CAP specifically the use of public goods from agriculture as a basis for payments and finally the role of valuing biodiversity in both combating climate change and offering mechanisms by which to protect and value the environment.
The session concluded with a presentation from the European Parliamentary services on their role in supporting MEPs and assistants.
