T-PAGE

Understanding the Transatlantic Policy Debate

The aim of T-PAGE is to offer a forum for members from US and EU environmental civil society to come together to improve common understanding of the climate and energy debate on both sides of the Atlantic. It is hoped that this process will facilitate debate across civil society and help to identify priority actions whereby the EU and US can show domestic leadership.

As background to this transatlantic dialogue, IEEP and NRDC produced two reports that review key developments in Europe and the US in terms of climate and energy policy, including cap and trade, biofuels, nuclear energy and carbon capture and storage. It has been commented by many stakeholders that these reports are very useful as they are structured to allow clear comparison and summary of EU and US policy in these key areas.

These reports served as background papers for the first transatlantic teleconference under T-PAGE, held on 24 April 2007. This meeting was attended by selected representatives from EU and US NGOs and academia. Its aim was to identify a list of priority topics for further discussion and research under T-PAGE.
