This new report explores the issues and options surrounding the debate on the future of EU regional policy, beyond 2006. The paper seeks to present an overview of current thinking on the possible direction of forthcoming reforms to the Structural Funds and the CAP within relevant Commission DGs, and among some Member States - in the knowledge that actual outcomes could be significantly different as a result of negotiations among many players. It also attempts to identify some future opportunities at both EU and national levels where influence can be exerted.
