Environmental governance is an important part of the wider development of effective governance systems in transition countries.

This article outlines the requirements for effective environmental governance and summarises a presentation given in Pristina, Kosovo, to Parliamentarians from Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Kosovo on behalf on the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
