Transboundary Water Security in Central Asia: Addressing the Crisis

Transboundary water issues pose significant security concerns in Central Asia. This briefing summaries the results of a roundtable that was held in London in July 2011 hosted by Cairneagle Associates and the Embassy of Kazakhstan and attended by Andrew Farmer of IEEP. It noted the institutional and political problems for water management both at national and transboundary level and made recommendations for improvements in water management to reduce the risks posed by potential future developments in the region.
