Welcome to IEEP and NRDC's Transatlantic Platform for Action on the Global Environment (T-PAGE)

Europe and the United States account for over 50 per cent of the global economy, a huge proportion of resource use and around 40 per cent of overall greenhouse gas emissions. Although they often have comparable general environmental policy goals they frequently pursue different approaches to achieve them. It is important to learn from these differences, to compare and contrast successes and identify weaknesses in order to move the global debate forward.

The Transatlantic Platform for Action on the Global Environment (T-PAGE) is a forum to facilitate debate between members of EU and US civil society. It aims to aid understanding, identify areas for future collaboration, inform policy makers on both sides of the Atlantic and ultimately contribute to improved protection of the global environment.

The project focuses on two important environmental issues that are relevant in both Europe and the US and have had varying degrees of transatlantic cooperation:

The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) are coordinating transatlantic dialogues between EU and US civil society on these two issues. These dialogues culminated in two major stakeholder conferences in spring 2008. The transatlantic conference on Climate and Energy was held in Washington from 24 -25 April 2008, the transatlantic conference on Marine Protected Areas was held in Brussels in May 2008.
